November 2013:

As of February 7, 2013 I am a widow and suddenly a single mother (hence the change in my blog subtitle from "working wife and mom in the 'hood" to just "working mom in the 'hood". I will be using this blog to talk about that and hopefully much more pleasant things.

2010:

Nearly five years ago, hubby and I moved 11 miles southwest from suburban Princeton, NJ to urban Trenton, NJ so that I could work in the city's government. We were childless then and hubby commuted to NYC to a high-powered job as a senior executive at a Fortune 100 company.

A half a decade later, I now run a non-profit in the city, hubby's an entrepreneur and we have a 3 1/2 year old daughter with another child on the way any day now.

Despite being confronted with the challenges that come from inner-city living, we've found fulfillment here and have committed to being part of the city's revitalization.

This blog is about my attempt to balance priorities as wife, mother, and community "change agent".
